bigdata – A virtual machine with 4 processors and 8 GB of memory running 64 bit CentOS 5.6.

  • It is a login node.
  • Jobs can be submitted to the GRID using the Grid Engine; it is also a processing node on the GRID

rnd – A Dell 1950 with 8 processors and 16GB of memory running 32 bit CentOS 5.7

  • It is a login node.
  • Application software includes ratfor77, SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner
  • Jobs can be submitted to the GRID using the Grid Engine; it is also a processing node on the GRID
  • There is a 6TB disk array attached (rnddata).

bigdata – A Dell 6650 with 8 processors and 12 GB of memory running 32 bit CentOS 4.9.

  • It is a login node.
  • Application software includes Stata
  • Jobs can be submitted to the GRID using the Grid Engine; it is also a processing node on the GRID
  • There is a DELL Powervault 24 tape backup unit attached.
  • There is a 5TB disk array attached (bohrdata).

bohr – A Dell 1950 with 8 processors and 16GB of memory running 32 bit CentOS 5.5

  • Application software includes ratfor77
  • It is a processing node on the GRID

darwin – A Dell 1950 with 8 processors and 16GB of memory running 32 bit CentOS 5.5

  • Application software includes ratfor77
  • It is a processing node on the GRID

euclid – A Dell 1950 with 4 processors and 20GB of memory running 64 bit Fedora 11.

  • It is a processing node on the GRID

gauss – A Dell 2950 with 8 processors and 24GB of memory running 64 bit Fedora 11.

  • It is a dedicated file share system
  • There is a 20TB disk array attached (t24)
  • There is a 24TB disk array attached (t26)
  • There is a 13TB disk array attached (tesladata)
  • There is a 3TB disk array attached (t3)

plato – A Dell 1950 with 8 processors and 24GB of memory running 64 bit VMware ESX 4.1.

  • It is a cloud server running VMware

gpu01 – A SuperMicro X8DTG-D with 8 processors and 24GB of memory running 32 bit Fedora 10.

  • It has a Tesla nvidia C1070 GPU, used for for running very large matlab programs
  • It is a processing node on the GRID
  • It was bought by the econmics department at Stern

tesla – A Dell 1950 with 8 processors and 24GB of memory running 64 bit CentOS 5.5

  • There is a 20TB disk array attached (archive & bigise)
  • It is a processing node on the GRID
  • There is a DELL Powervault TL2000 LTO-4 tape backup unit attached.
  • There is a DELL Powervault TL2000 LTO-5 tape backup unit attached.

engle, curie, and turing – 3 Dell R610s, each with 12 processors and 98GB of memory running VWware 64 bit ESXi 5.5.
kepler – A Dell R620 with 12 processors and 115GB of memory running VWware 64 bit ESXi 5.5.
hubble – A Dell R910 with 20 processors and 262GB of memory running VWware 64 bit ESXi 5.5.

  • These machines make up the VMware hosts for the Stern cloud

Other Hardware

switches – 3 Extreme network 48 port gigabit switches to which all the hardware is directly connected.

  • A 1gb fiber link connects the Stern Research Computing network to the rest of Stern

SAN – A Dell PS4000E Equallogic SAN with 16TB of RAID6 disk and dual controllers.

  • This is the primary storage for the Stern Cloud.
